ECoR Alters Train Services in June for Khurda Road Modernisation

Bhubaneswar: East Coast Railway (ECoR) has announced temporary changes in the operation of several express and passenger trains during June 2026 due to ongoing safety-related modernisation works in the Khurda Road Division. The measures are being implemented to facilitate infrastructure upgrades aimed at enhancing railway safety and improving operational efficiency.
According to ECoR, traffic and power blocks will be undertaken as part of the modernisation programme, resulting in the short-termination and short-origination of several trains at Malatipatapur instead of Puri on specified dates.

Among the major affected services are the Puri–Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Superfast Express, Gandhidham–Puri Express, Puri–Kamakhya Express, Gandhidham–Puri Superfast Express, Tirupati–Puri Express, Sealdah–Puri Duranto Express, Indore–Puri Humsafar Express, Sri Ganganagar–Puri Express and Kamakhya–Puri Express. These trains will either originate from or terminate at Malatipatapur on designated dates between June 3 and June 20.
In addition, Train No. 68409/68410 Khurda Road–Puri–Khurda Road MEMU services will remain cancelled from June 4 to June 19.
Several other trains will also experience short-termination or short-origination during the period. The Sambalpur–Puri–Sambalpur Intercity Express will operate up to Sakhigopal instead of Puri from June 4 to June 20. Likewise, the Talcher–Puri–Talcher MEMU and Jaleswar–Puri–Jaleswar MEMU services will operate only up to Khurda Road station during the same period.
Further, the Rourkela–Puri Express will be short-terminated at Khurda Road from June 4 to June 19, while the Puri–Rourkela Express will originate from Khurda Road station from June 5 to June 20.
Railway authorities have advised passengers to check train schedules and operational updates before commencing their journeys. Travellers can obtain the latest information through the National Train Enquiry System (NTES) and other official railway enquiry platforms.
The railway administration has expressed regret for the inconvenience caused and stated that the temporary restrictions are necessary to ensure long-term improvements in rail infrastructure and passenger safety.
