13 Senior OAS Officers Assigned Special Duty in Puri for Rath Yatra 2026

Bhubaneswar: As preparations gather pace for Rath Yatra 2026, the Odisha Government has deputed 13 senior Odisha Administrative Service (OAS) officers to Puri to strengthen administrative arrangements for the grand annual festival.

The General Administration and Public Grievance Department issued an order on Wednesday appointing the officers as Officers on Special Duty (OSDs). The deployment has been made as part of the state’s ongoing efforts to ensure seamless coordination and management during the internationally renowned chariot festival.

The officers will remain stationed in Puri from June 25 to July 27 and will work closely with the district administration in overseeing various operational responsibilities associated with the event. Their role will include facilitating inter-departmental coordination, supporting crowd management measures and assisting in the execution of festival-related arrangements.

As per the government order, all deputed officers have been instructed to report to the Collector and District Magistrate of Puri on June 25 to receive their assignments and further directions.

The officers selected for the special duty are currently serving in key positions across multiple departments and government organisations, including Housing and Urban Development, Tourism, Excise, Sports and Youth Services, Odisha State Seeds Corporation, IDCO, Zilla Parishads and the Commissioner of Endowments office.

With lakhs of devotees expected to visit Puri during Rath Yatra, the state government has intensified preparations to ensure smooth conduct of the festival, efficient public services and effective management of the massive influx of pilgrims.
