Dhenkanal Municipality EO’s Scorpio Kills Pedestrian in Cuttack

Cuttack: A pedestrian lost his life after being struck by a Scorpio allegedly driven recklessly by Dhenkanal Municipality Executive Officer Ashwini Kumar Das in the Netaji Nagar area of Cuttack district on Wednesday night.

The deceased, identified as Pradip Parida, was a resident of the locality. According to reports, Das was driving the SUV when it hit Parida, who was walking along the road, leaving him critically injured.

Following the accident, the officer reportedly took the injured man to SCB Medical College and Hospital in his Scorpio. However, doctors declared Parida dead upon arrival. The officer allegedly left the hospital premises afterwards.

The incident has sparked controversy after a video surfaced on social media, purportedly showing the officer transporting the injured pedestrian while speaking to someone over the phone and seeking advice on how to handle the situation and avoid trouble.

The video has triggered public attention, with questions being raised over the circumstances surrounding the accident and the officer’s alleged conduct.
