Later, the reptile was taken to the farther area in the Mahanadi river by forest department officials and then released in a deeper side.
It has been informed by the officials that it is done in view of security for the local and the animal as well.
This is the second incident after a viral attack on a man in the Kendrapara district.
According to sources, Khyamanidhi Das, a resident of Balichandrapur village under Rajanagar block, went for a bath in water bodies related to the Bramhani river system, and a crocodile attacked him.
However, he fought back, and the surrounding villagers came for his help and tried to keep the crocodile away by hitting it with the bamboo poles.
Later, Khyamanidhi Das was taken to the Rajanagar Hospital with multiple wounds on both legs.
The forest officials again advised people staying near the river or the water bodies to take precautions while walking around those areas, especially when known for the presence of reptiles. Villagers are requested not to enter deep water alone.
