Commissionerate Police Conduct Raid at Focus Plus Office Following Complaint Against Editor

Bhubaneswar: Commissionerate Police on Saturday evening conducted a raid at the office of Focus Plus in Bhubaneswar following a complaint lodged against the channel’s Editor-in-Chief over allegedly defamatory remarks against Odisha School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond.

The operation was jointly carried out by personnel from Khandagiri and Capital police stations. Police teams remained at the office for nearly two hours as part of the investigation.

The action comes days after supporters of the minister filed an FIR at Capital Police Station, accusing the editor of making objectionable and misleading remarks during a recent discussion programme. According to the complaint, the editor had alleged that the minister had offered ₹5 lakh to suppress errors in school textbooks.

Terming the allegations as false and an attempt to tarnish the minister’s public image, the complainants demanded strict legal action and sought the immediate arrest of the editor.
