CM Majhi Honours Indian Idol 16 Winner Jyotirmayee Nayak with ₹5 Lakh Award

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday felicitated Indian Idol Season 16 champion Jyotirmayee Nayak at his official residence in Bhubaneswar, announcing a cash reward of ₹5 lakh to honour her remarkable achievement on the national stage.

Commending the singer for bringing laurels to the state, the Chief Minister said her victory has become a matter of pride for every Odia and serves as a source of inspiration for young artists aspiring to make a mark in music.

During the felicitation, Jyotirmayee presented her Indian Idol trophy to the Chief Minister and recounted her journey from a budding singer in Odisha to emerging as the winner of one of the country’s biggest reality singing competitions. She spoke about the perseverance, discipline and years of hard work that shaped her success.

Majhi praised her dedication and said that with the blessings of Lord Jagannath, exceptional talent and unwavering commitment, she had earned nationwide recognition while showcasing Odisha’s rich musical heritage.

Announcing the ₹5 lakh incentive, the Chief Minister described Jyotirmayee as a role model for aspiring singers and expressed confidence that her achievement would encourage more young talents from the state to pursue their dreams.

Highlighting another dimension of her work, Majhi appreciated Jyotirmayee’s contribution as a music therapist. He noted that she has been using music to support cancer patients and pregnant women, helping improve their emotional well-being and reduce stress through therapeutic sessions.

He said her ability to combine artistic excellence with social service makes her a distinguished youth icon and hoped her efforts would inspire greater integration of music therapy into healthcare.

A native of Baunsanal village under Nilgiri block in Balasore district, Jyotirmayee is already a familiar name in the Odia music industry as a playback singer. The Chief Minister said the determination shown by achievers like her reflects the spirit needed to realise the vision of a Samrudha Odisha and Viksit Bharat.

Majhi also thanked the people of Odisha for their unwavering support throughout Jyotirmayee’s Indian Idol journey, saying the singer’s triumph has further strengthened the state’s presence on the national cultural map.

Jyotirmayee’s parents, Chakradhar Nayak and Gauri Nayak, were present during the felicitation ceremony.
