CM Majhi Distributes 4,623 Appointment Letters at State-Level Job Fair in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday said that a government job is not just a means of livelihood but a vital opportunity to serve the people. He made the statement while distributing appointment letters to newly recruited candidates at the 15th State-Level Job Fair held at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar.
A total of 4,623 candidates were handed appointment letters across seven departments during the event. The School and Mass Education Department accounted for the highest number with 4,113 appointments. Other departments included Forest, Environment and Climate Change (154), MSME (143), Steel and Mines (77), Fisheries and Animal Resources Development (70), Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water (52), and Skill Development and Technical Education (14).
Congratulating the recruits, the Chief Minister said government employees represent the face of the administration and must ensure that public services reach the last mile. He noted that people are increasingly feeling that the government truly belongs to them and urged the new appointees to uphold this trust through their work.
Highlighting employment achievements, Majhi said that since June 2024, the state government has provided 44,082 government jobs and facilitated 92,000 private sector jobs, benefiting over 1.36 lakh youth.
He also outlined five key principles for the new recruits: maintain zero tolerance towards corruption, listen to public grievances with empathy, remain unbiased while performing duties, complete tasks within deadlines, and uphold respectful and professional conduct in the workplace. He further emphasised the importance of respecting women and integrating ethical behaviour into daily work culture.
Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram, who attended as the chief guest, praised the state government’s efforts in creating employment opportunities and encouraged the recruits to treat public service as a noble profession.
Fisheries and Animal Resources Development and MSME Minister Gokulananda Mallik said the appointments mark the beginning of a new responsibility and identity for the candidates. Forest, Environment and Climate Change Minister Ganesh Ram Singh Khuntia described the roles as a significant duty towards serving the state’s population.
School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond highlighted that regular recruitment drives are strengthening the administrative system and expanding government capacity.
Several newly appointed candidates also shared their experiences. Visually impaired Assistant Industry Officer Bikash Ranjan Padhi, Assistant Conservator of Forests Abhishek Pradhan, Trained Graduate Teacher Anjali Munda, and Mining Officer Tapaswini Priyadarshini expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for ensuring a transparent and fair recruitment process.
The event was also attended by Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Minister Ravi Narayan Naik, Industries and Skill Development Minister Sampad Chandra Swain, and other senior officials.
School and Mass Education Commissioner-cum-Secretary Dr N. Tirumala Naik delivered the welcome address, while MSME Commissioner-cum-Secretary Rashmita Panda proposed the vote of thanks.
