Centre Approves Over Rs 769 Crore For 10 Major Road Projects In Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The Union Government has approved more than Rs 769 crore for 10 key road infrastructure projects in Odisha under the Central Roads and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF) for the financial year 2026-27.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi welcomed the approval and thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari through a post on social media platform X.

“These projects will bring a revolutionary change in the connectivity system, especially in the remote areas of the state. The Central Government’s continuous support for infrastructure development in Odisha is truly commendable,” the Chief Minister said.

The approved projects include the construction of the Rampela Approach Bridge along Dalgaon-Tilia and Charpali Dangukghat roads in Jharsuguda district at a cost of over Rs 52.69 crore.

In Ganjam district, a flyover from Tata Benz Chowk to MKCG Chhak in Berhampur has been sanctioned at Rs 146 crore, while another flyover from Giri Road Chowk to Old Bus Stand in Berhampur has been approved at Rs 168.26 crore.

Other projects include the upgradation of the Semiliguda-Handiput road in Koraput district at Rs 38.46 crore and the Lamataput-Machhkund road in the same district at Rs 15.20 crore.

The Centre has also approved the widening of the Umerkot-Chandahandi-Malgaon road in Nabarangpur district at Rs 32.62 crore and the expansion of the Adaba-Paniganda road in Gajapati district at Rs 45.52 crore.

Additionally, strengthening work on the Ramagiri-Jirang-Narayanpur road in Gajapati district has been sanctioned at Rs 24.80 crore, while the expansion of the Khariar Road-Amodhi-Belthukuri road in Nuapada district will cost Rs 61.11 crore.

The improvement of the Jaleswar-Batagram-Chandaneswar road in Balasore district, estimated at Rs 184.97 crore, is also part of the approved package.

Chief Minister Majhi said the projects, covering remote, tribal and coastal regions, would create new opportunities in transportation, education, healthcare, trade and business, besides significantly boosting the local economy.

The approval is being seen as a major step towards strengthening Odisha’s road connectivity and ensuring balanced regional development across the state.
