BCCI Faces Naqvi Dilemma Ahead of Women’s Asia Cup

The Women’s Asia Cup 2026 will begin on August 28 in the UAE, with eight teams divided into two groups. India, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, are placed in Group A alongside Pakistan, with the two sides set to meet on September 5.
However, the BCCI could face another awkward situation during the trophy presentation if India reach the final and win the tournament. The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) is currently headed by Mohsin Naqvi, who is also the Pakistan Cricket Board chief.

Last year, the Indian men’s team reportedly did not accept the Asia Cup trophy from Naqvi after defeating Pakistan in the final. Naqvi subsequently took the trophy away, and it has remained at the ACC office.
The BCCI has reportedly not yet clarified its position on the issue. One possible solution could be for another ACC official to present the trophy if India win, avoiding a repeat of last year’s controversy.
