Manoj Bajpayee Takes on Iconic ‘Bapu’ Role

Manoj Bajpayee is set to portray Mahatma Gandhi on screen for the first time in an ambitious historical film being developed by filmmakers Anubhav Sinha and Sudhir Mishra. Veteran actor Saurabh Shukla will also feature in a key role.

The film will explore a lesser-known chapter from the final phase of India’s freedom struggle, focusing on 21 significant days in Gandhi’s life. The story will examine the period when India was moving towards independence and Delhi was emerging as the centre of political power.

According to Sudhir Mishra, Gandhi chose to distance himself from the corridors of power during this crucial period. The film will explore the reasons behind his decision, his personal thoughts and the emotional and mental journey that shaped his actions.

For Manoj Bajpayee, the project marks a major milestone as he takes on the iconic role of ‘Bapu’ for the first time. The film aims to present Gandhi not just as a historical figure but also through his deeply human and sensitive side.
