Ex-Sarpanch Allegedly Hacked to Death in Bhadrak

Bhadrak: In a tragic incident, Chittaranjan Rout, former sarpanch of Bandhagaon panchayat and current president of Ambaroli Seva Samabaya Samiti, was allegedly hacked to death in Odisha’s Bhadrak district on Tuesday night. His body was discovered in a canal near a field close to his home.

According to reports, Rout had attended an Astaprahari, a Hindu ritual in honor of Lord Krishna, in a neighboring village but did not return home. Concerned family members began searching for him with the help of locals, only to find his blood-stained body in the canal. Deep wounds on the back of his head indicated he may have been attacked with a sharp weapon.

While the exact motive remains unclear, family members suspect Rout was murdered due to political rivalry. Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation. The precise cause of death will be confirmed following the autopsy report.
