Man Beaten To Death In Odisha’s Balipatna, Accused Arrested

Bhubaneswar: A person was allegedly beaten to death following a dispute in Balipatna area on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar on Friday.
The incident took place at Bengabati village under Balipatna police limits, a day after a youth was killed in an incident of mob violence in nearby Balianta area.

According to police, two friends reportedly entered into an argument over some issues at Bengabati village. The altercation later turned violent after one of them allegedly attacked the other with an iron rod.
The victim sustained grievous head injuries and was immediately rushed to the Capital Hospital for treatment. However, he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment, police said.
Balipatna police have arrested the accused and launched an investigation into the incident. The identities of both the deceased and the accused were yet to be officially confirmed till the filing of this report.
Meanwhile, police are also continuing investigation into the mob violence incident reported from Balianta on Thursday, where a youth was allegedly beaten to death by a group of people after he reportedly attempted to sexually assault two women.
The deceased in the Balianta incident was identified as Soumya Ranjan Swain of Adaspur area, who was serving as a constable in the Government Railway Police (GRP).
Police have so far arrested five persons in connection with the Balianta incident.
