CSK, SRH Complete Four-Player Trade Ahead Of IPL 2027; Liam Livingstone Joins Chennai

Chennai, Nov 5: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have completed a four-player trade ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2027 season, with England all-rounder Liam Livingstone and Australian all-rounder Jack Edwards moving to Chennai.
In exchange, left-arm pacer Khaleel Ahmed and Australian fast bowler Nathan Ellis will join the Hyderabad-based franchise.
As part of the deal, Livingstone, who was acquired by SRH for Rs 13 crore ahead of IPL 2026, will join CSK at a revised fee of Rs 6 crore. Edwards will move at his existing contract value, while Khaleel and Ellis will join SRH for Rs 4.8 crore and Rs 2 crore, respectively.
The trade is aimed at addressing the respective squad requirements of the two franchises. CSK, which finished eighth in IPL 2026, is looking to strengthen its all-round options, while SRH is focusing on reinforcing its pace-bowling attack after exiting the tournament in the Eliminator.
Khaleel’s move marks a reunion with SRH, having previously represented the franchise between 2018 and 2021. He claimed 15 wickets for CSK in IPL 2025 but struggled with injuries during the 2026 season.
Meanwhile, Edwards will be keen to make an impact in Chennai after missing the entire IPL 2026 campaign due to a foot injury. Ellis, known for his variations in death overs, is expected to add depth to SRH’s bowling attack.
In another major development, CSK have reportedly revamped their coaching setup ahead of IPL 2027, with former India fast bowler Zaheer Khan set to replace Stephen Fleming as head coach.
The four-player exchange signals a significant reshuffle for both franchises as they begin preparations for the next IPL season.
