Centre Asks States to Display Hospital Rates Clearly

The Central Government has asked all States and Union Territories to ensure that clinical establishments prominently display the charges for their services and facilities, enabling patients to make informed decisions and avoid billing disputes.

Union Health Secretary Punya Salila Srivastava has written to the Chief Secretaries of all States and UTs, stressing the need for greater transparency in healthcare pricing. She highlighted that clear information on treatment costs would help patients and their families plan medical expenses and better understand the charges involved.
The Centre has also urged States and UTs to ensure transparent display of treatment package rates for international patients visiting India on medical and Ayush visas.

The initiative aims to strengthen accountability in the healthcare sector, build patient trust and ensure that transparent pricing becomes an essential part of patient-centred healthcare services.
