Jajpur Police Reunites 200 People With Lost Phones Under ‘Operation Reconnect’

Jajpur: In a major technology-driven recovery initiative, Jajpur Police has successfully traced and returned 200 lost and stolen mobile phones to their rightful owners under its special campaign, “Operation Reconnect.”
The recovered phones were handed over to the complainants by Dr Satyajit Nayak, Inspector General of Police, Central Range, Cuttack, in the presence of Jajpur SP Yash Pratap Shrimal and other senior police officials.
The latest drive builds on an earlier recovery effort conducted in March 2026, when police returned 100 mobile phones to their owners.

According to police, the operation involved registering complaints, using technical and digital tracing methods to track the missing devices, recovering them and conducting detailed verification to confirm the claims of the respective owners.
The initiative has brought significant relief to the victims, many of whom had lost not only expensive smartphones but also important personal data, photographs, contacts, documents and access to digital services stored on the devices.
IGP Satyajit Nayak said police would continue such technology-based efforts and urged people to report lost or stolen mobile phones without delay. Prompt reporting, he said, can help investigators initiate tracing and recovery measures at the earliest.

Jajpur Police said “Operation Reconnect” reflects its focus on citizen-centric policing and the increasing use of technology in criminal investigation. The recovery drive was summed up by the police as “200 phones, 200 reconnections and countless smiles.”
The department also appealed to the public to cooperate with police and remain vigilant against mobile theft and cyber-related offences.
