Odisha Rain To Ease, Thunderstorm Alert

Rainfall intensity across Odisha is expected to decline from Sunday as the depression over Madhya Pradesh moves further northwest and gradually weakens, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
The depression was located over northeast Madhya Pradesh and adjoining north Chhattisgarh on Saturday morning. It is forecast to move towards southeast Uttar Pradesh and weaken into a well-marked low-pressure area over the next 12 hours.

Some parts of Odisha may continue to receive heavy rain until Sunday morning. The IMD has issued a yellow warning for Baleshwar, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.
Thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds of up to 40–50 kmph are also likely in several districts, including Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Puri, Khordha and Nayagarh.

Between September 27 and 29, thunderstorms with lightning and winds of 30–40 kmph are expected in Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj, for which a yellow warning has been issued.
Odisha recorded heavy rainfall at 19 locations across nine districts in the 24 hours ending at 8:30 am Saturday. Nawana in Mayurbhanj received the highest rainfall at 126 mm, followed by Raighar in Nabarangpur at 107 mm and Khaira in Baleshwar at 101 mm.
