Odisha’s Rich Heritage Featured in PM Mementos e-Auction 2026

Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s distinctive cultural identity has found prominent representation in the PM Mementos e-Auction 2026, with 62 artefacts reflecting the state’s rich traditions of religion, handicrafts, textiles, painting, festivals and literature.
A major focus of the collection is the state’s enduring association with Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra. The catalogue includes artistic depictions of the deities as well as works representing Odisha’s regional gods, traditional celebrations and cultural personalities.
One of the highlights is ‘Jagannath Parivar on Chariot’, a detailed artwork showing the three sibling deities seated on an elaborately decorated chariot pulled by four sculpted horses. The piece captures the religious and cultural importance of the annual Rath Yatra.

Another prominent entry is a Pattachitra portraying the Puri Rath Yatra. The painting depicts the deities on their chariots against a festive backdrop of music, dance and celebrations, showcasing the intricate craftsmanship and vivid colours characteristic of Odisha’s traditional art.
The collection also brings together some of the state’s renowned handicrafts, including Cuttack silver filigree (Tarakasi), known for its finely crafted silver-wire designs, along with Sambalpuri textiles and traditional Ikat weaving.
A devotional representation of Maa Samaleswari is also featured. Created entirely through the traditional Sambalpuri Ikat Bandha technique, the work highlights the skill and heritage of Odisha’s handloom traditions.
The catalogue extends beyond religious art to document the state’s colourful festival culture. A framed print of Panchu Dola Melana depicts devotees carrying decorated miniature temple structures, while another photograph captures the annual gathering of village deities at Chilika Lake, with boats carrying the deities across the water.
Together, the 62 artefacts offer a glimpse into Odisha’s diverse cultural landscape, bringing together Jagannath traditions, Rath Yatra, Pattachitra, Tarakasi, Sambalpuri Ikat, regional festivals and literary heritage on a national platform through the PM Mementos e-Auction 2026.
