Odisha Lok Bhavan Earns India’s First IGBC Platinum Green Campus Tag

Odisha’s Lok Bhavan has become the country’s first Lok Bhavan and the first campus to receive an IGBC Platinum rating under the revised Green Campus v1 system.

The campus scored 88 out of 100 points for its green initiatives, including renewable energy use, extensive greenery and electric vehicles. Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati received the certification from IGBC National Chairman C. Sekhar Reddy.
Lok Bhavan currently has a 635-kWp solar power plant and has adopted an all-electric official carcade. The campus also plans to install small wind turbines and extend green initiatives to Lok Bhavan in Puri, where a 100-kW solar plant has been proposed.

The Governor said the recognition should inspire universities and government institutions across Odisha to adopt sustainable practices and pursue green certification.
