Puri Jagannath Temple’s e-Hundi Receives Rs 56.70 Lakhs

Puri: The digital donation system of the Shree Jagannath Temple, ‘Samarpan’, has received donations worth Rs 56.70 lakh within 45 days of its launch, reflecting growing preference among devotees for digital offerings.

Launched by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on July 15, the e-Hundi allows devotees from anywhere in the world to make offerings and download receipts.

Shree Jagannath Temple Administration Chief Administrator Dr Arabinda Padhee said the facility has been gaining popularity among devotees.

Meanwhile, the temple’s fixed deposits have crossed Rs 1,811 crore. Of this, Rs 1,311.09 crore is deposited in various nationalised banks, while Rs 500 crore, provided by the Odisha Government as Corpus Fund, is kept in the PL account of the temple. Another Rs 100.70 crore is available in the temple’s savings, current and flexi accounts.

The temple’s income primarily comes from devotees’ donations, interest on fixed deposits, land-related transactions and government grants. The funds are managed under Corpus, Foundation and Temple Funds, with daily expenses met from the Temple Fund.

The traditional Srimandir Hundi also continues to receive substantial offerings, collecting Rs 1.43 crore in August. The highest single-day collection of Rs 6.73 lakh was recorded on August 24.
