WhatsApp Introduces Bill Payments in India, Supports 22,722 Billers Across 30 Categories

WhatsApp has launched its Bill Payments feature in India, allowing users to view, manage and pay utility and household bills directly through the messaging app.

Powered by Bharat Connect (BBPS), the service supports 22,722 billers across 30 categories, including electricity, water, gas, FASTag, insurance, credit cards and loan repayments. Payments can be made using UPI or cards.
Users can access the feature by tapping the ₹ icon on WhatsApp’s home screen, selecting a bill category and biller, entering account details and completing the payment after reviewing the bill amount.

WhatsApp will also show previously paid billers, offer a household bill summary and allow multiple accounts under one biller. The feature is being rolled out gradually to Android and iOS users across India and is expected to reach all users in the coming weeks.
