Agriculture Minister Reviews PM-DDKY Progress, Calls for Faster Delivery of Farmer Benefits

Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has reviewed the implementation of the Prime Minister Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (PM-DDKY), stressing the need for timely delivery of benefits and stronger outcomes for farmers.

At a review meeting in New Delhi, Chouhan assessed the scheme’s progress across 100 identified districts and called for faster implementation, better coordination among various government schemes and improved performance at the district level.

PM-DDKY aims to boost agricultural productivity, encourage crop diversification and sustainable farming, expand post-harvest storage, improve irrigation facilities, increase access to agricultural credit and strengthen governance and service delivery.

According to the Agriculture Ministry, the average score of the 100 districts across the scheme’s six objectives rose from 22.54 in April 2026 to 38.85 in July 2026, marking an improvement of 16.31 points.

The scheme is being implemented by bringing together 36 Central schemes under 11 Ministries and Departments, along with state government schemes and private-sector participation. A total of 121 indicators have been set to monitor progress, including 74 output and 47 outcome indicators.

The Minister emphasised that monitoring should focus not merely on expenditure and activities but on measurable outcomes and the actual benefits reaching farmers.

Chouhan also reviewed the Watershed Development Component (WDC-PMKSY) under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana. He urged states to speed up project implementation and ensure tangible results at the grassroots level.

Calling watershed development an important step towards achieving a drought-free India, Chouhan said its objective goes beyond creating water bodies. It should ensure water reaches agricultural fields, raise land productivity and ultimately increase farmers’ incomes.
