The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has released learning resources and textbooks for the third language (R3) on its official website, ncert.nic.in. The resources are aimed at making language learning more engaging and helping students develop broader language skills.
NEP 2020 Focus on Three Languages
Under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, students are encouraged to learn three languages, with at least two being Indian languages. NCERT said the initiative is intended to improve students’ understanding of multiple Bharatiya Bhashas and support their overall development.

How Students Can Access R3 Books
Students can access the resources by selecting their class, language and book on the NCERT portal. The selected book will open in PDF format along with its chapter list.

Class 9 Students to Study Three Languages
According to CBSE guidelines issued on June 29, students of Class 9 will have to study three languages, of which at least two must be Indian languages. The third language will be evaluated through an internal school-based assessment.
