Bhubaneswar: Tourist bus hits bike in front of Odisha Assembly, motorist critical

Bhubaneswar: Tension prevailed in front of Odisha Assembly here this evening after a tourist bus reportedly hit a bike living the motorist critical.

A bus with registration number OD13V8739 was reportedly heading towards the Master Canteen Square with around 50 tourists after visiting the Lingaraj Temple.

When the bus reached in front of Odisha Assembly at around 7.50 PM, it reportedly hit a bike leaving the biker critical. Following the accident, the occupants including the driver fled from the spot.

Soon, some passersby along with the state assembly security personnel rushed to the biker, rescued him and sent him to the Capital Hospital for treatment.

Sources said that the biker has sustained grievous injuries on his head and other parts of the body. Besides, he sustained fractures at his hands and legs.

Later, a team of cops from the Capital Police station arrived at the spot of accident and seized the tourist bus and bike involved in the accident and initiated an investigation into the matter.

Police, who could establish the identity of the injured biker, whose name is Dibyaranjan Jha of Unit 3 area in Bhubaneswar, also have launched a manhunt to trace and nab the driver of the tourist bus.

Meanwhile, the occurrence of such accident within a high security zone has raised questions about safety of people including VIPs.
