Water Levels Drop in Baitarani, Salandi Rivers, But Bhadrak’s Flood Crisis Deepens

Bhadrak: Water levels in the Baitarani and Salandi rivers are receding, but the flood situation in Bhadrak district still continues to worsen. Floodwaters from the Baitarani River have cut off road connectivity on the Bhadrak-Akhandalamani state highway.

According to reports, 4 feet of floodwater is flowing over the road at Kothar. Connectivity has also been snapped on several other routes including Dhusuri-Hasana, Dhamnagar-Kothar, Dhusuri-Fatepur, Dhamnagar-Phalapur, Dobal-Shandapur, Dhamnagar-Dobal, and Asurali-Kasimapur.

In Dhamnagar block, 22 panchayats, in Bhandaripokhari block 9 panchayats, and in Tihidi block, Bodaka and Shyamsundarpur panchayats have been affected by the Baitarani floods.

As per the information received, 5 blocks, 80 panchayats and over 3.5 lakh people in Bhadrak district have been impacted. More than 56,000 people have been shifted to 195 shelters.

Four ODRAF teams and three NDRF teams have been deployed for rescue and relief operations.
