3.8 magnitude quake jolts Nashik

Mumbai: An earthquake of magnitude 3.8 occurred in Nashik district of Maharashtra on Thursday, said the National Centre for Seismology (NCS).

The tremor occurred at 2:37 am IST at a depth of 5 km, with its epicentre located about 50 km north of Nashik.

While there have been no immediate reports of any loss of life, injuries to persons, or any damage to property.

No casualties or damage are feared. Officials are keeping a watch over the region; residents in parts of Nashik said they felt some tremor.

It may be noted here that a low-intensity tremor was registered in Nashik a week back; the latest earthquake is the eighth seismic activity registered in the area.
