Odisha to Release Fifth Subhadra Yojana Instalment on Raksha Bandhan

The Odisha government is preparing to extend the benefits of its flagship Subhadra Yojana to more than one crore women with the release of the scheme’s fifth instalment on Raksha Bandhan in August, as authorities work to complete verification of pending applications before the next round of payments.
Ahead of the disbursement, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, who oversees the Women and Child Development Department, reviewed implementation progress on Friday and instructed officials to complete field verification of all pending applications by July 25. She also directed that the status of the verification exercise be monitored daily to ensure eligible beneficiaries are included before the next instalment is credited.
Since the launch of the programme, the state government has transferred more than Rs 20,648 crore directly into the bank accounts of over one crore women through four instalments under the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mechanism. Each eligible beneficiary is entitled to receive Rs 5,000 in every instalment, with the fifth payment scheduled to coincide with Raksha Bandhan.
Officials said around 3.53 lakh applications are currently awaiting field-level verification. Reports prepared by grassroots officials will first be examined by block-level committees before being forwarded to district authorities and, subsequently, the state government. Women who satisfy the eligibility criteria after this process will be included in the fifth instalment, Parida said.
The Deputy Chief Minister also pointed out that several applications remain pending because of incomplete formalities such as e-KYC, bank account verification and biometric authentication. She urged applicants to complete these procedures at the earliest so they do not miss out on the scheme’s benefits.
According to official figures, the Subhadra Yojana has received approximately 1.15 crore applications so far. During the 2026-27 financial year alone, another 3.17 lakh fresh applications were submitted. Following scrutiny, around 1.02 crore women were initially identified as potential beneficiaries for the upcoming instalment.
Officials said district-level verification later confirmed the deaths of 5,277 beneficiaries, leading to a revised list of approximately 1.01 crore eligible women who are currently slated to receive the fifth instalment.
The Subhadra Yojana, launched by the Odisha government as its flagship women’s financial assistance programme, provides eligible women between the ages of 21 and 60 with Rs 10,000 every year, paid in two equal instalments of Rs 5,000. Over the five-year implementation period from 2024-25 to 2028-29, each beneficiary is expected to receive a total of Rs 50,000 through direct transfers into Aadhaar-enabled, DBT-linked bank accounts.
