Nursing students protest at FM university, assault allegation triggers tension

Balasore: Students belonging to B. Sc. Nursing courses of private colleges have allegedly faced thrashing while protesting on the campus of Fakir Mohan University, Balasore.

The students were protesting  and were demanding the early completion of their pending semester examinations and issuance of registration numbers.

The students say the B. Sc. Nursing program is meant to be completed in four years, but almost six years have already passed, and students cannot even complete their program owing to delayed exams.

While protesting, a group of varsity students allegedly attacked them.

On witnessing this, nursing students proceeded to the office of the VC and demanded necessary action for their attack and academic grievances.

They said that the students enrolled for B. Sc. Nursing course in the various private nursing colleges in Balasore district in 2021-22 have not been allowed to undertake their semester exams.

The  administration have ensured them that their matter would be looked into.

No comment has been issued so far by any varsity official on the assault incident.

The situation, which continued for a while, soon normalised.
