Red alert for Koraput, Malkangiri as heavy rain set to lash Odisha for 6 days

Bhubaneswar: The Indian Meteorological Depratment (IMD) issued red warning for Odisha’s Koraput and Malkangiri districts as heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in these districts on Friday.
As per reports, orange warning has been issued for Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Rayagada and Gajapati districts for heavy to very heavy rain today.
Similarly, red warning has been issued for Koraput, Malkangiri and orange warning in Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Ganjam, Puri, Khordaa and Nayagarh for heavy to very heavy rain at few places on Saturday.
IMD has also warned that this wet spell is expected to continue for next six days over the state.
The low pressure area has formed over Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining Odisha coast due to impact of a cyclonic circulation. The low pressure system is expected to further intensify over next two days, added IMD.
Impact of the low pressure the south west monsoon has become active over Odisha bringing moderate to heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorm at several parts of coastal Odisha and most of interior Odisha.
IMD also alerted that the sea conditions would remain rough for next five days.
Fishermen have also been advised not to venture into the sea for this time period.
