3 killed, 4 injured in separate lightning strike incidents in Deogarh

Deogarh: At least three youths were killed while four others sustained injuries in separate lightning strikes in Odisha’s Deogarh district.
As per reports, six youths from Pitasahi and Katasahi villages under Basaloi Panchayat in Barkote block went to see the submerged Banakalo Shiva temple in Rengali reservoir.
When they were returning on three motorcycles, they faced unseasonal rain and lightning struck near the banks of Bhatsing river.
Two of them identified as Bubun Samal and Dolamani Penthei were instantly killed due to the impact of lightening.
It is to be noted that as many as four others named Juel Samal, Tiru Samal, Sunil Luhura and Rudra Charan Harijan were grievously injured and rushed to hospital for treatment.
Following information of the incident, local MLA Romanch Ranjan Biswal extended help and made arrangements for their hospitalisation.
Meanwhile, in a similar incident, Raja Kandulana of Tentulisahi in Deogarh municipality, was killed as a lightning struck him at home.
He was rushed to District Headquarters Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.
