Mayurbhanj Awaits President Murmu and PM Modi as Preparations Gather Pace

Bhubaneswar: Extensive preparations are underway in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district ahead of the visit of President Droupadi Murmu on June 19 and 20. The President is scheduled to take part in a series of development, education, and welfare-related programmes during her stay in the district.

The visit has generated considerable excitement among residents, particularly in Rairangpur and Pahadpur, who are eager to welcome the country’s highest constitutional authority to her home region. Anticipation has grown further amid reports that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to join the President at a major public event in Rairangpur on June 20, marking two years of the BJP government in Odisha.

Officials are working round the clock to ensure smooth arrangements for the high-profile visit. Security measures, infrastructure preparations, and event logistics are being finalised across the district.

According to the proposed itinerary, President Murmu and Prime Minister Modi will visit Pahadpur village, associated with the President’s family, where they are expected to offer prayers at the revered Gosani Peeth shrine. They will also participate in programmes focused on youth empowerment, skill development, and community welfare.

The Prime Minister is likely to visit educational institutions in the area, interact with students and local residents, and pay floral tributes at memorials dedicated to members of the President’s family.

The atmosphere in Pahadpur has turned festive, with villagers decorating the area and making preparations to welcome the distinguished guests. Many residents view the occasion as a rare opportunity to see both the President and the Prime Minister in person.

BJP MP Naba Charan Majhi said the leaders are scheduled to visit a Skill Development Centre and the SLS Memorial School before proceeding to Dandbose Airstrip, where a large public gathering has been planned.

Prime Minister Modi is also expected to address a massive public meeting attended by thousands of people and unveil several development initiatives, including the inauguration and foundation-laying of key projects aimed at boosting the district’s growth.
