Heatwave Forces Extension of Summer Vacation in Angul Schools

Angul: Amid persistent heatwave conditions across the region, the district administration has decided to extend the summer vacation for all government and private schools in Angul district.
As per the revised schedule, schools will resume classes on June 22, instead of June 18 as previously announced by the state government.

District Education Officer officials stated that the decision was taken after reviewing the prevailing weather conditions and considering the safety and health of students. The move aims to protect children from exposure to extreme temperatures that continue to affect several parts of the district.
While the Odisha Government had fixed June 18 as the reopening date for schools statewide, district Collectors were authorised to assess local weather situations and take suitable decisions regarding the resumption of classes.
The extension comes at a time when many areas of the state are witnessing soaring temperatures, with weather experts predicting that the heatwave is likely to persist for the next few days.
The announcement has brought relief to many parents and students, who had expressed concerns about commuting to schools and attending classes during intense daytime heat. Meanwhile, educational institutions have been instructed to make necessary preparations to ensure a smooth reopening when classes resume on June 22.
