Odisha Tightens University Hiring Rules with Vigilance Monitoring

To fight corruption and bring real transparency to faculty hiring, Odisha’s Higher Education Department asked the state Vigilance Department to step in and keep a close watch on recruitment at 16 public universities. They want to make sure the process stays fair, guarding against shady practices or outside influence during the selection process.
The department’s Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Aravind Agrawal, IAS, issued an official letter straight to the Vigilance Director. Vigilance teams will monitor hiring at every academic level, especially for Assistant Professors, Associate Professors, and Professors.
District vigilance units are now expected to track every step of faculty recruitment in their areas, staying alert for anything suspicious. Agrawal also told them that any complaints, issues, or claims of irregularities, investigate them right away, and send their reports back to the Higher Education Department so there’s no delay in addressing problems.
The department instructed universities to fully cooperate with vigilance officers during this whole process. By letting independent monitors check everything, the government hopes to build real public trust and keep its universities’ reputations strong.
