23 Kabisuryanagar Police Personnel Transferred Amid Probe Into Alleged Custodial Death

Berhampur: In a significant administrative reshuffle following the alleged custodial death of a man at Kabisuryanagar Police Station in Odisha’s Ganjam district, authorities have transferred 23 officers and staff posted at the police station along with three personnel from the Balichhai Outpost.
The transfer orders were issued by the Ganjam Superintendent of Police, who stated that the move was aimed at ensuring a fair, transparent, and impartial investigation into the incident while preventing any possible interference with the ongoing inquiry.
Meanwhile, the Human Rights Protection Cell (HRPC) has intensified its investigation into the alleged custodial death. A four-member HRPC team, which arrived in Ganjam district on Tuesday, has launched a detailed probe into the circumstances surrounding the case.
As part of the investigation, the team on Wednesday summoned the family members of the deceased, identified as Sushant, to the Diganta Dak Bungalow in Purushottampur for questioning.
Sources said the investigators are closely examining the allegations raised by the family and collecting evidence to ascertain the facts and determine the veracity of the claims related to the alleged custodial death.
The incident has sparked widespread concern, with the HRPC inquiry expected to shed light on the circumstances leading to Sushant’s death. Authorities have assured that the investigation will be conducted thoroughly and in accordance with legal procedures.
