Bengaluru-Bhubaneswar Flight Diverted To Lucknow Due To Severe Nor’wester

Bhubaneswar: A domestic flight travelling from Bengaluru to Bhubaneswar was forced to divert to Lucknow on Wednesday evening after it failed to land at the Biju Patnaik International Airport due to severe nor’wester conditions accompanied by heavy rain and strong winds.

According to sources, the aircraft remained airborne over Bhubaneswar for some time as pilots attempted to assess the weather situation. However, with conditions worsening rapidly, air traffic control advised the flight to divert to Lucknow for safety reasons.

The flight later resumed its journey and returned to Bhubaneswar late at night after the weather improved. The aircraft landed safely at the airport without any untoward incident.

Airport officials and airline sources confirmed that all passengers on board were safe and no injuries or major inconvenience were reported during the diversion. Necessary arrangements were also made for the passengers during the halt.

Nor’westers, locally known as ‘Kalbaisakhi’, frequently occur across eastern India during the pre-monsoon season. These storms often bring sudden thunderstorms, gusty winds, lightning, and heavy rainfall, leading to disruptions in air and road traffic.
