Ebola Alert: Vigilance Intensified at Bhubaneswar Airport, Thermal Screening Mandatory

Bhubaneswar: Amid rising global concern over Ebola outbreaks, authorities at Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar have heightened surveillance and introduced fresh precautionary measures for incoming passengers.
Airport Director Prasanna Pradhan on Friday confirmed that thermal screening has been made mandatory for all international and connecting passengers arriving at the airport. Officials are also verifying the 21-day travel history of passengers to identify any potential risk cases.

“If any suspicion arises regarding a passenger’s health condition, they will be immediately isolated and tested as per the standard Ebola screening protocols issued by the Union Health Ministry,” Pradhan said.
Special monitoring is being carried out for passengers arriving from Bangkok, which has been identified as a transit point of concern. Airport health officials, in coordination with the state health department, are conducting random health checks and maintaining a dedicated isolation facility within the airport premises.
Passengers have been advised to report symptoms such as high fever, body ache, weakness, or unusual fatigue to health authorities immediately.
The airport administration has urged citizens not to panic and assured that all necessary preventive measures are in place. Authorities have also appealed to passengers to cooperate with screening and surveillance procedures to ensure public safety.
