IIM Sambalpur, MCL Sign MoU To Train 500 Officers In AI

Bhubaneswar: The Indian Institute of Management-Sambalpur (IIM Sambalpur) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) to provide Artificial Intelligence (AI) training to 500 officers from various disciplines.
The initiative aims to enhance innovation and efficiency in the core business areas of coal production, business development, operations, and process management.
The MoU was signed by Keshav Rao, Director (HR) of MCL, and Prof. Mahadeo Jaiswal, Director of IIM Sambalpur, in the presence of senior officials from both organisations. Among those present during the signing ceremony were Uday Anant Kaole, CMD of MCL, and Prof. Shikha Bhardwaj, Chairperson of Executive MBA at IIM Sambalpur.
The collaboration is aimed at building future-ready and technologically skilled leadership capable of navigating the era of digital transformation.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Mahadeo Jaiswal said IIM Sambalpur is committed to promoting innovation-led management education and preparing future-ready leaders for the AI era. He added that the partnership with MCL reflects a shared vision of leveraging AI and Machine Learning to drive organisational transformation through knowledge, technology-driven growth, and strategic capability building.
IIM Sambalpur stated that it is the first institute in the world to implement AI education for its entire batch of students across all functional areas of management.
The collaboration is expected to help MCL, a subsidiary of Coal India Limited, integrate advanced technologies into its operational and administrative systems.
