Woman, Daughter-in-Law Killed in Lightning Strike in Odisha’s Ganjam

Bhubaneswar: In a tragic incident, a woman and her daughter-in-law lost their lives after being struck by lightning in Mudulipalli village under Bhanjanagar Tehsil in Odisha’s Ganjam district on Thursday.

The deceased were identified as Saila Bisoi (65) and Santosini Bisoi (35).

According to reports, the incident occurred during a sudden storm accompanied by heavy rain in the afternoon. The two women were returning home after finishing work in the paddy fields when they took shelter under a bamboo bush to escape the rain.

However, lightning struck the spot, killing both of them instantly.

After receiving information about the incident, Bhanjanagar police reached the village, recovered the bodies, and sent them to Bhanjanagar Hospital for post-mortem examination.

The incident has cast a pall of gloom over the village.
