Teacher Killed by Train Near Balangir, Suicide Suspected

Bhubaneswar: A 58-year-old Physical Education teacher died after being run over by a train near Balangir in Odisha on Monday morning, in an incident that has raised suspicions of suicide.
The deceased has been identified as Debi Prasad Rout, a teacher at a school in Malmanda village.

According to initial reports, Rout arrived near the railway gate close to the Balangir–Sudpara gas godown in his car. He allegedly rushed onto the tracks moments before the Puri–Durg Express approached and was fatally struck. He died on the spot due to the impact.
Sources indicate that his daughter had recently been married just a few days ago. However, the exact reason behind the incident remains unclear.
Personnel from the Government Railway Police (GRP), Balangir, reached the scene, recovered the body, and launched an investigation into the matter.
The body has been sent to Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital for postmortem examination. Further details are awaited as the probe continues.
