Govt to Roll Out Rs-30,000 Cr Worth of Industrial Projects Across Sambalpur and Rourkela

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government is set to launch and lay the foundation for over 20 industrial and infrastructure projects worth nearly Rs-30,000 crore in Sambalpur and Rourkela over a two-day programme on January 27 and 28, officials said.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will inaugurate completed projects and kick-start new investments aimed at strengthening industrial growth in western Odisha, a region identified as a priority for balanced economic development.
Among the major initiatives is Enterprise Odisha 2026, a state-level industry outreach programme being organised in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). The summit is expected to focus on converting investment proposals into on-ground execution, particularly in manufacturing and value-added industries.
One of the key projects to be inaugurated is Hindalco’s flat-rolled products unit at Lapanga in Sambalpur, involving an investment of more than ₹5,000 crore. The project is expected to enhance downstream aluminium manufacturing and support ancillary industries in the region.
Officials said western Odisha has already received investment approvals worth over ₹1.28 lakh crore, with the potential to generate significant employment over the coming years. The upcoming project launches are expected to further strengthen industrial infrastructure, logistics support, and urban facilities in Sambalpur, Rourkela, and surrounding districts.
The government believes the concentrated investment push will help diversify the state’s industrial base beyond mining, improve regional job creation, and accelerate Odisha’s transition towards higher-value manufacturing.
