CM Majhi Approves Amendment to Ease Land Title Process in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: In a move aimed at simplifying land ownership procedures, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has approved amendments to the Odisha Survey and Settlement Rules, enabling land buyers to obtain Record of Rights (RoR) more easily.
The amendment is expected to provide major relief to individuals who had purchased land prior to the Settlement Operation but were yet to receive ownership documents in their names.

Earlier, land buyers had to file appeals before the Board of Revenue or other authorized Revision Courts to secure their titles — a process often delayed due to heavy caseloads and procedural complexities.
With the new provisions, Tehsildars have now been empowered to directly record the land in the buyer’s name, eliminating the need for lengthy appeals. This change is expected to significantly reduce administrative delays and make the process faster and more citizen-friendly.
Buyers can now approach the concerned Tehsildar office to obtain the title deed of their legally purchased land, ensuring a more efficient and transparent system of land ownership in the state.
