Cold Wave to Sweep Odisha from November 14

Bhubaneswar: A cold wave is likely to sweep across Odisha from November 14 to 20, with night temperatures expected to drop by 3 to 5 degrees Celsius in several parts of the state, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted.

According to the regional weather office, minimum temperatures will remain below normal in most districts during this period. The mercury is expected to dip to around 12°C in areas such as Rourkela, Baliguda, and Gajapati, while Sambalpur, Bhanjanagar, Jharsuguda, and Mahanadi basin regions may record lows of around 14°C.

On Thursday, Daringbadi recorded the state’s lowest temperature at 13°C, followed by Phulbani (14°C), Koraput (15.4°C), Rourkela (16.2°C), Jharsuguda and Keonjhar (16.8°C), Bhadrak (16.5°C), and Dhenkanal (17°C).

With the winter chill setting in earlier than usual, residents have been advised to bundle up and take precautions against the approaching cold wave.
