15 Injured as Pickup Van Carrying Marriage Party Overturns in Dhenkanal

Bhubaneswar: At least 15 people were injured after a pickup van carrying a marriage party overturned near Bandania village under Kankadahad police station limits in Dhenkanal district on Monday.

According to reports, the vehicle was carrying 22 passengers from the Ghasipura area of Keonjhar district and was heading towards Kalasapur village under Balikuma Panchayat in Dhenkanal when the accident occurred.

The mishap reportedly took place after the rear tyre of the pickup van burst, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle. The van subsequently overturned on the roadside, leaving several passengers injured.

Following the incident, locals and emergency responders rushed to the spot and launched rescue operations. Fire brigade personnel rescued the injured and shifted them to Kamakhyanagar Community Health Centre (CHC) in 108 ambulances for treatment.

Sources said the injured sustained injuries to their head, hands and legs.

On being informed, Kankadahad police reached the spot and started an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.
