Youth Critically Injured in Broad Daylight Knife Attack in Baripada

Baripada: In a shocking incident, a 25-year-old youth sustained serious injuries after being attacked by unidentified miscreants in broad daylight in Baripada town of Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district on Wednesday morning.

The incident occurred around 8:30 AM near Station Bazaar under Town police limits. The victim, identified as Muna Yadav, a native of Aurangabad district in Bihar, was working as a salesperson at a foreign liquor shop in the area for the past two months.

According to reports, Muna was on his way to the shop when two assailants intercepted him and suddenly attacked him with a knife. The assault took place in full public view, leaving locals in shock. After the attack, the miscreants fled the scene, leaving Muna critically injured on the street.

Local residents immediately rushed the victim to the district hospital, but due to the severity of his injuries, he was later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for advanced treatment. Hospital sources confirmed that Muna sustained injuries primarily to his hand and was in a critical condition at the time of admission. His condition is now reported to be stable.

Police have launched an investigation and are trying to identify and apprehend the attackers. The motive behind the attack is yet to be established. Security has been heightened in the area following the incident.
