Youth Attacked with Knife in Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar: A youth was chased and brutally attacked by three masked miscreants with a knife and surgical blades in the Badagada area of Bhubaneswar late Monday night.
The victim, identified as Dipak Pradhan, a local resident, was left critically injured and rushed to Capital Hospital for treatment.
The incident occurred around 11 p.m. when Dipak was returning home. The attackers, traveling on a Pulsar motorcycle, kicked him off balance, before launching a vicious assault. They used a knife and surgical blades, inflicting severe injuries to his hand, back, and face. After the attack, the assailants fled the scene, leaving Dipak in a critical condition.
Police arrived shortly after the incident and have launched an investigation. A case has been registered, and CCTV footage from the area is being reviewed.
While the exact motive for the attack remains unclear, authorities suspect that past enmity may have played a role. This attack follows a similar incident earlier in November, when four individuals were arrested for a near-fatal assault on social worker Siba Srichandan in Bhubaneswar’s Palaspalli area.
The city’s rising crime rate has raised concerns, with authorities linking some recent incidents to personal vendettas.
