Xi Jinping to Visit India for BRICS Summit

Chinese President Xi Jinping will visit India to attend the 18th BRICS Summit scheduled to be held in New Delhi on September 12 and 13. The Chinese Foreign Ministry confirmed his visit following an invitation from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, ending days of speculation over his India trip.
India will host the summit at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. Xi’s visit will be his first trip to India in nearly seven years, at a time when New Delhi and Beijing are working to improve bilateral ties after tensions along the border.
Xi last visited India in October 2019 for the second informal summit with Prime Minister Modi in Mamallapuram, Tamil Nadu.

According to reports, Xi is expected to spend around 24 hours in Delhi. He is likely to arrive around noon on September 12 and hold a bilateral meeting with PM Modi before attending the BRICS summit. He is expected to leave for China around noon on September 13.
Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian are also expected to attend the summit, with leaders from all 11 BRICS member countries set to participate.
Focus on Modi-Xi Talks

The meeting between Modi and Xi is expected to attract considerable global attention, particularly because of its significance for India-China relations. Both sides have recently indicated a willingness to move ties in a more positive direction.
