Shivraj Singh Chouhan Appeals to Citizens to Prevent Food Waste on World Food Day

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Friday called on people to value food, avoid wastage and support efforts to eliminate hunger on the occasion of World Food Day.
In a social media message, Chouhan highlighted the importance of food in Indian traditions, where it is considered sacred and essential for life. He urged people to prepare meals according to their needs and take only as much food as they can consume.

The minister stressed that saving food is a shared responsibility and encouraged citizens to work together to ensure that no one in their neighbourhood remains hungry.

Observed every year on October 16, World Food Day commemorates the establishment of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in 1945. The theme for this year is “Innovate Today. Nourish Tomorrow,” focusing on the need for innovative approaches to ensure a sustainable food future.
