Woman dies after loud DJ sound was played during wedding procession

Patnagarh: In an unusual incident, a woman died due to loud music being played on a DJ sound system during a wedding procession at Patnagarh area of Balangir district.

The deceased has been identified as Lochana Bahuk from Brahmapura village under Patnagarh police limits.

As per reports, a wedding was going on in Patnagarh’s Shabpara, a DJ playing at full volume passed through the area. The deafening sound caused her immense discomfort.

Since Lochana is a heart patient, the family members requested the DJ operators to lower the volume, but their pleas were ignored. Soon after Lochana fell unconscious She was first rushed to Patnagarh Hospital and later shifted to Balangir District Headquarters Hospital for advanced treatment. However, she succumbed during treatment.

Later, the family and villagers blocked the road by leaving the body on the Patnagarh-Kantabanji main road, demanding compensation and banning the DJ from the area completely.

On being informed about the incident, Patnagarh police reached the spot and after negotiating, the administration provided assistance of Rs 10,000 from the Red Cross. They filed a case against the DJ owner and promised to stop DJs in the area.
