Vigilance Arrests Ex-PACS Secretary Over ₹14.22 Lakh Fraud

Odisha Vigilance has arrested Chintamani Mallick, former Secretary of Juba Primary Agriculture Cooperative Society (PACS) Ltd in Belpada block of Balangir district, over alleged misappropriation of ₹14.22 lakh.
According to the Vigilance department, its investigation revealed that Mallick allegedly diverted government and cooperative society funds amounting to ₹14,22,046 during multiple financial years, including 2016–17, 2020–21, 2021–22 and 2022–23.


The probe reportedly found several financial irregularities. These included failure to record seed sale proceeds, suppression of closing balances in the Day Book, false entries showing bank deposits and unauthorised withdrawals from savings bank accounts.
Based on the findings, Odisha Vigilance registered a case against Mallick under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
After his arrest, Mallick was produced before the Court of the Special Judge, Vigilance, Balangir. Further investigation into the alleged financial irregularities is underway.
