Vedanta Aluminium Honours Doctors, Expands Rural Healthcare Reach

Bhubaneswar: Marking National Doctors’ Day, Vedanta Aluminium paid tribute to doctors and healthcare professionals for their contribution to improving medical services in rural communities, while reaffirming its commitment to expanding healthcare access across Odisha and Chhattisgarh.
The company said its network of hospitals, mobile health units (MHUs) and diagnostic centres currently serves more than seven lakh people, bringing essential healthcare services closer to remote and underserved areas.
Speaking on the occasion, Rajesh Kumar, CEO of Vedanta Aluminium, said doctors play a crucial role in safeguarding public health and improving the quality of life. He said the company remains committed to supporting healthcare professionals by investing in medical infrastructure and strengthening outreach programmes in rural regions.
During FY26, Vedanta Aluminium continued to scale up its healthcare initiatives. In Jharsuguda, its mobile health units provided primary healthcare services to over 18,000 people, while awareness campaigns on diseases such as tuberculosis, malaria, diabetes, cancer and heart ailments reached more than 2.8 lakh residents. The District Satellite Hospital in Jharsuguda, supported by the company, also treated over 1.17 lakh patients.
Residents have acknowledged the impact of these services. Sorojini Thakur of Kudaloi village said regular visits by the company’s mobile health unit have made medical consultations and treatment far more accessible for people living in remote areas.
Vedanta’s Project Aarogya at Lanjigarh also continued to strengthen healthcare delivery, benefiting over 1.3 lakh people through hospital services, mobile medical units, health camps, emergency care and maternal and child healthcare programmes across more than 65 villages in Kalahandi and Rayagada districts every month.
The company’s mining operations also expanded preventive healthcare. Over the past year, more than 3,500 health camps were organised across 18 villages in Jharsuguda and Sundargarh, providing free medical consultations, medicines and health check-ups to over 36,000 beneficiaries. At Sijimali, the mobile health unit conducted 753 health camps between April 2025 and June 2026, extending primary healthcare services to more than 20,800 people.
In Chhattisgarh, the BALCO Hospital in Korba continues to offer multi-speciality treatment to over 2.2 lakh patients annually, while community initiatives under Project Arogya are improving access to primary healthcare in remote locations. The BALCO Medical Centre in Raipur is also strengthening cancer care by providing advanced and affordable oncology treatment to patients from across the country.
Vedanta Aluminium said it will continue collaborating with healthcare professionals, government agencies and local communities to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and improve access to quality medical services in its operational areas.
