Two Truck Drivers Killed in Head-On Collision on NH-520 in Keonjhar

Bhubaneswar: Two truck drivers were killed in a head-on collision between a coal-laden truck and an iron-ore truck near Kunduruburu under K. Balang police station limits on NH-520 early Saturday morning.

The deceased drivers were identified as residents of Barbil in Keonjhar district and Uttar Pradesh. According to preliminary reports, the iron-ore truck, which was en route to Bania, reportedly lost control due to brake failure while descending the Chuna Ghati slope. The vehicle crossed the road divider, entered the opposite lane, and collided with the coal-laden truck heading towards Koida.

Following the incident, fire brigade personnel and police rushed to the spot and carried out a prolonged rescue operation to retrieve the bodies from the mangled vehicles. The bodies were later sent for post-mortem examination.

K. Balang police have registered a case and launched an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.
